July is right around the corner, and with it comes peak Wisconsin summer humidity. When the thermostat starts pushing past those comfortable June temperatures, you don’t have to stay trapped inside with the central AC blasting.

From local pools to hidden natural gems, here are four great ways to beat the July heat in and around Green Bay.

1. The Big Three: Green Bay’s Aquatic Centers

Green Bay is incredibly lucky to have phenomenal public pool facilities. Whether you want to lounge or let the kids burn off some energy on the waterslides, you've got options:

  • Resch Aquatic Center (1058 Reed Street) – Features great slides and a fantastic splash area.

  • Joannes Aquatic Center (315 S. Baird Street) – A classic neighborhood favorite with a heated pool and diving boards.

  • Colburn Pool (901 S. Fisk Street) – Perfect for swimming laps or just enjoying a classic afternoon dip.

2. Shady Trails at the Cofrin Arboretum

If you want to stay active but need to escape the direct July sun, head over to the UW-Green Bay campus. The Cofrin Memorial Arboretum forms a natural green boundary around the campus, offering miles of beautifully shaded walking trails nestled under dense tree canopy. It can be significantly cooler on the trails than out on the open pavement.

3. A Cool Breeze at Bay Beach Amusement Park

Sometimes all you need is a little wind in your hair! Head over to Bay Beach and buy a fistful of incredibly affordable ride tickets. A ride on the historic Zippin Pippin roller coaster or a spin on the giant Ferris wheel right next to the waters of Green Bay is guaranteed to provide a refreshing lake breeze.
